CAPTAIN & CO-FOUNDER

Manages our charity. 30 years experience in corporate, public and private sectors plus as a BBC Broadcast Journalist and Human Rights Campaigns Manager at Body Shop International. Led three charities, co-founded two and former trustee of Brighton Carers Centre. Several roles involved supporting children and adults with disabilities. Learnt to ride a cycle at 18, taking up cycling as broken spine rehabilitation aged 31. Raised by a parent with a disability she is passionate about inclusion. Womble (below) is part of her family.

LOUISA BARKLA

CYCLE-PILOT SUPPORT

Supports our Volunteer Cycle-Pilots on our Elder Care Ride Service. Responsible for the behind-the-scenes ride management, Cycle-Pilot training and communications. 20+ years in corporates and charities. She’s undertaken varied management roles in tourism, hospitality, communications and events, in several countries. Her charity roles worked with people of all ages and include UNICEF and trailblazing healthcare for people facing homelessness. She enjoys cycling her cargo trike with her two boys and supporting others to access the freedom and fun 3-wheels can offer.

JACKIE JONES

RIDE ENABLER – ALL-AGES SERVICE

Started her Pedal People adventure as a Volunteer Cycle-Pilot, loves how cycling can be beneficial to all with the right tools and access. Works at our All-Ages Ride Service, supporting and training Carer-Pilots. Worked in the travel industry for over 20 years and is lucky enough to have seen a lot of the world, some of it from a bike! Loves cycling, running, skiing and generally being outside in all weathers.

BERNARDO DACAL

MECHANIC MAGICIAN

Loves our cycles (shows in his care and precision. Cinematography was his first passion and remains central. He loves creating documentaries that capture and share peoples’ culture and stories. Enthusiasm for an active, outdoor lifestyle brought him to his love of cycling (plus skating) which led him to train in cycle mechanics and engineering. He literally keeps our wheels turning to ensure our safe and reliable rides are accessible to anyone wishing to share the joy of cycling.

WOMBLE

CHIEF CANINE - THERAPY DOG

Demonstrates ‘wind in hair’ joy expertly. Interaction with her is optional of course but frequently requested. Fully insured with us. She likes to travel in her 'cycle pot', 'woof-sack' or aboard our accessible cycles. Super good at helping people feel less anxious and onboard with ease. Often attracts cuddles and cheer.
