All-Ages Service

  • This is the first outdoor activity that our disabled son has been able to access in the last 12 years.

  • Gives my week some structure and something to look forward to.

  • Easily the best experiences my son and I have enjoyed in Brighton. He can access the seafront, enjoy the weather and keep active at the same time. In a few short rides he has learned how to pedal forwards and he keeps going. Thank you to all the team for their support and dedication.

  • Wayne (58) hasn't stopped talking about it since starting. Very relaxed and happy throughout, even with a little rain! Carers benefit too from supporting him in an activity he enjoys so much and has such a positive impact.

  • Wonderfully supportive, efficient and fun activity. The carers get very good training on the bikes and how to navigate where you are cycling.

  • Really makes our week for both of us!

  • A great way to get around the seafront in a joint activity. A unique way to support a partner.

  • For my daughter and I it is such fun to cycle together as equals!

Elder Care Service

  • “Today was so unexpected, so wonderful, to be out like this. So many passers-by smiled and waved. I loved it!” — Shirley 82 with Walter 86

  • “I feel back in the land of the living” — Violet, 95

  • “Exemplary service and organisation. Friendly, approachable, caring pilots, who genuinely love what they do.” — Care home

  • "I believe Pedal People have enhanced our residents lives drastically. We have some residents who present with agitation and depression. They benefit from getting out in the fresh air and we believe Pedal People has helped with all of the above. Without exception they come back completely exhilarated. They love seeing parts of the area they haven’t seen for years, as well as visiting local parks. It is a wonderful opportunity for them to mix with the wider community and makes them feel valued.” — Care home Manager

  • “Your cycle passed me on the seafront today. As they passed one of the elderly passengers said: ‘This is wonderful, so wonderful. It made their day and mine. Well done!” - Theresa (now joined as Volunteer Cycle-Pilot!)

  • “My parents (92 & 95) have so enjoyed being taken out from their care home revisiting areas they have known all their lives. They love the fact that so many people want to wave, stop, chat and marvel! It seems to give them a feeling of freedom. The pilots make it a great experience from the attention, kindness and knowledge of the areas.”

  • “I went to visit Mrs B in hospital. She’s had a severe stroke and sadly will not be returning to the home. She didn’t recognise us but was very happy and serene to have company. I mentioned the cycling and she said “Ah, do they still come on Monday morning. The best bit was everyone waving at us, I felt like I was famous!” Her brain has been badly affected by the stroke, but she remembered that experience.” — Care home manager
